Transition

Vent

My Influence Matters is a campaign that will enlighten teens and adults to realize their influence matters. The purpose of My Influence Matters is to create a community of people who believe what they do directly impacts the people around them.

Transition will serve as a program geared toward high school seniors. Statistics show that students struggle with the transition from high school to college. Due to enhanced freedom, many teens make poor decisions and have a hard time balancing life and school. The HarveyLights Foundation wants to give high school seniors valuable life tools that will ensure a successful adult journey. Through dynamic workshops, teens will be better prepared to achieve their post-high school goals.  The transition conference will consist of motivational workshops and seminars taught by accomplished individuals in business, education, healthcare, and entertainment. It will also serve as a platform for students to ask questions regarding their development, discuss issues surrounding their communities, and showcase their talent.

The Vent program will serve as a therapy outlet for troubled and at-risk youth. Thousands of teens commit suicide each year in the United States. In fact, suicide is the third leading cause of death for 15- to 24-year-olds. Suicide does not just happen. Studies show that at least 90% of teens who kill themselves have some type of mental health problem, such as depression, anxiety, drug or alcohol abuse, or a behavior problem. They may also have problems at school, with friends, family, loss of a loved one, or a combination of all these things.
